About Us
SFL Softwash was founded on hard work, integrity, and fair pricing. We aim to give the best customer service possible while achieving professional results using only premium products. We specialize in soft wash roof cleaning and paver sealing but can clean pretty much any hard surface. Soft wash kills the underlying bacteria growing that makes your house or building look dirty rather than just pressure washing off the top layer. This gives you cleaner longer lasting results while causing less damage than high pressure. When handled by our well-trained technicians our soft wash cleaning solution is eco-friendly and will not damage any surrounding landscape. SFL Softwash has the ability to clean the roof without ever stepping foot on it so you don’t have to be worried about any broken tiles. Our paver sealing services are second to none. We take the time to make sure the area is properly cleaned and treated for stains and efflorescence so you don’t get any white milky areas. We only use high quality water-based products built for the South Florida climate and always replace the sand between joints when needed to help with the structural integrity and prevent weed growth as much as possible. SFL Softwash knows how difficult it is to find contractors you can trust and don’t cut corners so to prove we are the real deal we offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee on all our work.
What is growing on your roof?
It’s called Gloeocapsa Magma, a bacteria that resembles algae which feeds on organic materials such as limestone found in roof shingles. This, combined with the wet climate of South Florida, creates a breeding ground for the bacteria to spread. Many experts conclude the bacteria to be harmful if left untreated, as the growth holds moisture within shingles causing premature aging, rotting, and granule loss. Not only is the buildup of Gloeocaspa Magma ugly and bad for the roof but it can lead to increased utility costs as the black stained roofing draws in more heat making it difficult to cool your home. ARMA (Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association) advised cleaning method: The safest and most effective method of cleaning bacteria, algae, and moss from a roof is with a 50:50 mix of liquid chlorine bleach and water, administered with low pressure.
Applying high-pressure directly to your roof can cause the bonding or adhesive between your roof material to break, damaging the underlying fabric that protects the interior of your home. Spraying pressurized water can also result in cracks or breaks in the ceramic, cement, clay or slate tiles. If you have other features on your roof, such as vents, skylights, or solar panels, applying too much high-pressure water could compromise the seals that keep those features watertight, resulting in a leak. High pressure will also erode a surface layer causing the tile to become more brittle and porous allowing bacteria, mold and mildew to accumulate and grow faster. If the tiles are painted, the pressure may remove some layers of paint leaving uneven patches and swirl marks.
